Exploring the Safety of Breast Implants: Facts, Risks, and Considerations

    JackBy JackAugust 11, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

A lot of women are thinking about getting East Windsor breast implants. Maybe your breasts are sagging or you lost a lot of weight, so they’re not as perky the way they used to be. Whether you’re considering breast implants for cosmetic reasons or because you’ve had a mastectomy and need to reconstruct your breasts, here’s what you need to know!

Breast implants are made from silicon, a material that’s safe for use inside your body. Silicone is a synthetic rubber-like material that is used safely in lots of products you use every day. Since breast implants are FDA-approved devices, they have been thoroughly evaluated for safety.

Breast implants have been around for decades and there are many studies to show that the medical risk of getting breast implants is low. However, it’s possible for breast implants to cause complications. This could happen because the silicone is injected into your body close to a blood vessel, a muscle, or inside another organ. If you have an allergy to silicone, you will be more likely to develop a complication.

Breast implants are considered safe for temporary placement in your body. You can remove them at any time and if they are causing problems, you should ask your doctor about removing them.

When Should You Consider Breast Implant Removal?

Breast implants are safe for most women, but you may need to consider removing them in certain instances, such as breast implant ruptures and infections. Other complications that require breast implant removal include capsular contracture, shifting or rotating of breast implants, and detection of breast cancer.

Being aware of the potential side effects of breast implants is important. If your implants are causing problems, talk to your doctor about whether you need to have them removed or replaced. If you notice anything unusual, tell your doctor. You should also let your plastic surgeon know if you develop a rash or other signs of infection like redness, warmth, tenderness, swelling, and pain in the area around your breast implants.

Remember breast implants that are placed inside your body for a long time can also cause complications, such as capsule contracture. These are all potential complications of breast implants that make it necessary to remove your implants at some point.

The truth is that breast implant complication rates are very low. However, it is important to know what the risks are, so you can evaluate whether the benefits associated with breast implants offset the possible risks.
