Foods to Avoid After Teeth Whitening in Waterford

    JackBy JackAugust 23, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Who does not want white and vibrant teeth when it makes you feel more youthful and put together? It is for this very reason that people often go to Dr. Marvin Taylor for teeth whitening. However, the most daunting task is to keep the results as they are. If you want your teeth whitening results to be as good as new, it is recommended that you avoid certain food items. Let us take a look at what these food items are:

    Food items to avoid:

While we are on the subject of what causes our teeth to lose their natural white color, let us tell you that it is not just food items and beverages that affect the color of your teeth. There are several other factors, like genetics, aging, and smoking, that can cause teeth to get yellowish. Moreover, if you do not remove plaque in time, it can also weaken your enamel. This, in turn, increases the chances of your teeth getting stained.

You have to take a proactive step and make sure you steer clear of food items that have pigment so that your teeth do not get yellow or gray.

You must have already heard that beverages like tea and coffee have incense pigments that can cause your teeth to get yellow. Some other things, like red wine, blueberries, and grape juice, have the same properties and can affect your teeth in a similar manner. Likewise, it is recommended that you also avoid ark spices, berries, chewable vitamins, chocolate, sports drinks, soda, colored ice products, beets, soy sauce, and balsamic vinegar. What typically happens is that the pigments from these food items gradually permeate through the enamel and cause significant discoloration in your tooth.

Another important factor that one needs to remember is that citrus fruits and drinks are not direct food stains. However, they can weaken the enamel present in your teeth, which can lead other pigments to cause staining.

But we do understand that it would be impossible to avoid every food item listed, and we do not really recommend it, as there are certain benefits of each item. What you can do is wash your mouth once after every meal so the chances of teeth staining can be reduced to some extent.

    Final thoughts:

If you have more questions about things you need or need not do, get in touch with your dentist in Waterford right away.
